What is the transmission for?
The transmission of your vehicle is a system designed to convert the energy output of your engine to high or low levels of torque. Transmission systems perform this operation by executing a “gear-reduction” process by slowing the motor but in turn creating a more powerful output.
Your transmission requires transmission fluid to function. The purpose of transmission/transaxle fluid for your vehicle is to clean, cool, and lubricate the transmission among other operations. But most of all, the fluid protects your transmission system. The level of this fluid should at least be checked at every oil change. Your vehicle has a designated level of transmission fluid that is needed to operate and it is very important it is not overfilled. Warning signs your transmission needs inspection
If you are experiencing any difficult shifting gears, whether in an automatic or manual transmission vehicle, hear a grinding noise during gear shift, hear unusual sounds such as growling or whining while the car is operating in a specific gear range, if the vehicle is not shifting or pops out of gear then have your transmission inspected by Tire Factory right away.
Often the first indication of a transmission problem is an awful grinding sound from the engine. This may be a marker that your system is low on transmission fluid. Filling the fluid to the proper level may correct this problem and one of our Tire Factory technicians will perform this for you. If the sound continues after this it may be because the transmission fluid filter is clogged and not allowing the fluid to enter the system.
Another sign your transmission needs inspection is if during your fluid level check you notice the transmission fluid is a different color than red or pink, such as brown, indicating that the fluid has been burned. Also, it may smell burnt if an inspection is needed.
