What are the benefits of fuel injection verses a carburetor?

The operation of your engine requires a specific amount of fuel that is regulated by the fuel injection system. Fuel injectors essentially cover the same responsibilities of a carburetor but provide better fuel efficiency, better performance, reduce emissions and do not need as much maintenance as a carburetor. Cars nowadays almost exclusively use fuel-injection systems as opposed to carburetors.
